Prichard, Michael. Collins Encyclopedia of Fishing in the British Isles. Glasgow/ London, William Collins Sons, 1977. 12 x 12 cm. 256 pages. With photographs and illustrations throughout. Original Hardcover with original price-clipped dustjacket. Very good condition with only minor signs of external wear.

The book covers sea angling marks around the coast, and the most celebrated river swims. It explains how to ‘read the river’ and how to understand and appreciate the natural environment and habits of the fish, backed up by specially prepared Water Profiles. All the main angling fish species have been specially commissioned from, and brilliantly drawn by Dr. Dietrich L. Burkel, Deputy Keeper in the Department of Natural History at the Glasgow Museum- himself an expert angler. There are also dozens of diagrams of rigs and tackles, each showing clearly how they should be used. And scores of artificial flies are illustrated in full colour, from salmon lures to minute trout flies.
